You may be new to the culture and
are wondering what should I wear to a rave? The answer is you can wear anything
you want. Literally. The goal is to express who you are on this inside on the
outside. It’s ok if you don’t feel comfortable wearing provocative or brightly
colored clothing. Raves and festivals should be a no judgment zone for
everyone. Most of all you should be comfortable and happy.
But
of course, there are fashion trends with in EDM culture. Some basic things you will see are neon
apparel, masks, diffraction glasses, wigs and led accessories. But there are
some trends that might be new to you. I will go into detail explaining some of
these outfit choices.
Spirit hoods
Sprit hoods are furry animal hoods that are suppose to
represent your inner animal. This idea is taken from Native American culture. There are two designers that I love when
it comes to spirit hoods.

proceeds to help wildlife. Their hoods are extremely well made and they even
have pockets in them where you can store money/cell phone.

costumes. They are brightly colored and fantasy based. These hoods are very soft and most have
a strap that goes under your arms to keep your hood on while you are dancing.
Kandi
Kandi is beaded apparel that can be exchanged to spread the
message of PLUR(peace, love, unity, respect.) You can make one strand bracelets
or a whole kandi suit to rave in. The possibilities are endless when you put
your mind to it. These bracelets represent an entire culture and a way of
thinking.
Tutus
There are not many places that it
is socially acceptable to wear a tutu. But at a rave you will fit right in. So
why not take advantage of this opportunity?

Fluffies
Fluffies are the solution to ugly comfortable shoes. No one
wants to dance for 2 to 12 hours in high heels. Wear sneakers and pick out your
favorite colored fluffies to cover them.

led shoe laces.

Rave Bra
You can make your own rave bra with glue, jewels, flowers,
ect. There are many different designs and creative things you can attach to
create something unique. And if you are not a crafty person you can buy one
online. Etsy has a lot of different rave bras to choose from.
EDM culture is growing fast and you can clearly see it
influencing American fashion. Spencer’s and Hot Topic now carry rave apparel.
Unicorns and cats prints are extremely popular. Bright colors have taken over
earth tones. EDM fashion is about true self-expression and fun. This is a
chance to forget what clothing society tells you is normal or appropriate to
wear and just be your self.
